Brett Barker is a 5th generation native
New Mexican who began her professional art career in 1993. Since
then she has shown in galleries and sold work throughout the US
and Europe. Her work includes pastel images of the Southwest and
mixed media pieces that marry Western textile traditions with Eastern
iconography. Her current work focuses on smaller versions of these
mixed media pieces, where she is using thread in a innovative technique
called ‘thread painting.’ She is the co-author of
Color and Composition for the Creative Quilter, C & T Publishing’s
best-selling “how to” art book. She sells her work
and offers classes through her website, www.artistbrettbarker.com.
