I am a self-taught painter, and for several years I
apprenticed at the Vogue -Wright commercial art studio in Chicago. I also
studied at the American Academy of Art in Chicago to improve
my technique for portraits and figure drawing.
I ran a small art
studio in my home in Barrington, Illinois, where I taught portrait
painting and still life. I also did commissioned
children portraits. It was at this time that I became
interested in doing
flower still lifes. It was one of these paintings that was accepted
by the Art Institute of Chicago for their sales and rental gallery.
I discontinued
painting for about 20 years, but was re-inspired when I
moved to Galisteo in 2000. I am now resuming my past love of painting
flowers, and expanding into Galisteo landscapes.
